These activities will get you started writing your own poems:

1. Louder Than A Clap of Thunder (Scholastic):

  • Read through the poem two times. 
  • Next, click on “QuickTime (1.29MB)” at the bottom to listen to the author read the poem out loud.
2. Poetry Idea Engine (Scholastic):
  • Click on each type of poetry to learn how to write them, and create your own poems with the engine.  
3. Kids Magnetic Poetry Kit:
  • Create your own poem using the words given.
  • If you want different words to choose from, click “More Words” at any time.
4. Online Rhyming Dictionary:
  • Type in the word for which you need help rhyming and choose from the long list that they find.
