What is a Memory?

In this playlist, you will listen to a story online, create a timeline of events in the story, and use precise word choice to create a diamante poem.

1. Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge (Storyline):

Listen as the story is read aloud.
Make sure that you pay close attention to the events in the story so that you can easily create the timeline in the next step.
Take notes while the story is read aloud.

2. Interactive Timeline (ReadWriteThink):

Type the title (W.G.M.P. Timeline) and your name.
For unit of measure, choose EVENT.
Click NEXT ENTRY for each new event that you add.
In the ENTRY box, type the order number of the event (i.e. #1, #2, #3).
In the TITLE box, type a one or two word title for the event.
In the DESCRIPTION box, type the details of what happened for that event.
You must include at least 5 events in your timeline summary.

3. Diamante Poems (ReadWriteThink):

Read the description of a diamante poem and look at the examples.
Click GET STARTED.
Type your name in the NAME box.
Use the word “Memories” in the BEGINNING TOPIC and ENDING TOPIC boxes.
Click NEXT and follow the directions for choosing words for your poem.
Use what you know about choosing specific words that focus on the 5 senses.
