Understanding Theme and Narrative Arc
Playlist Title
This playlist is going to challenge you to think about how you read and comprehend stories in and outside of class. You’ll be creating a scrapbook of the most memorable parts of stories you are reading, and you’ll be looking at and making your very own colorful word clouds. You’ll also be taking popular fairy tales you may have heard when you were younger and making them your own. As you do all of these activities, think about what themes are made clear in the words you encounter. Why do certain phrases or actions impact the overall story you are reading? Who are the main characters you encounter and what are their goals and actions? Above all, think about how you would be able to change these stories through switching characters, points of view, plot, and setting. Good luck!
