Playlist Title
Travel the solar system to learn how gravity affects the trajectory and motion of heavenly objects. Will an asteroid hit the earth? Find out how orbiting objects affect each other as you explore our solar system.
1. Space Rocks (NASA):
- Explore each tab to learn about comets, meteors, and asteroids.
- Follow the instructions for each of the following simulations:
-What’s Your Angle?
-Step on It!
-Pick a Comet, Any Comet!
-It’s a Matter of Mass...
-Target Practice - Read all of the news articles in Comet News: Special Edition
- Observe how space objects orbiting each other are affected by various gravitational pulls.
- Begin the simulation set to the following: 2 bodies/System Centered/Show Traces.
- Click START and when one revolution of the outside object has been completed, click STOP. Know that a few scenarios will not show the completed outside revolution.
- Using the drop down menu at the top right of page, change the selection of orbiting bodies and observe until you have tried each one.
