In this playlist you will learn about ecosystems.

1. Food Chain (BrainPop):

Try all four options shown at end of video in this order:

2. Sunny Meadows:

Click on the arrows to read the instructions/ introduction and write down the difficult definitions.
Click on “Play Game” and start with these settings:
-Choose View: Pictures
-Game Speed: 1x
-Click on the green + button ONLY ONCE by each organism and analyze why the fox, rabbit and plant have different starting populations.
-Click each organism a second time + and note how much each population increases. Do you see a pattern? Why are the numbers so different?
-Now, it is your choice to change the amount of foxes, rabbits, and plants to find an ecosystem that is balanced.
-Observe the organisms’ population numbers while reading the narration at the bottom of the screen.

3. Ecology Lab:

Download the Word data table to record your results. Print it out if possible.
Read Overview to learn about the simulation.
Start with The Producers and read about the challenge.
Click Step 1 and record your hypotheses on your data table.
Open the Simulator and study its variables. Notice that only two plants are active.
Click RUN to watch 100 timesteps of the simulation and answer the questions on your data sheet.
Read the directions for Step 2 carefully.
Run the simulation, answer questions and analyze the results.
Continue following the instructions and repeat the steps as described.
Write a conclusion on your data sheet to summarize what was learned about the interactions in an ecosystem.
