Do You Know Your Factors?

Understand and practice identifying prime and composite numbers.

1. Prime and Composite Numbers (Harcourt)
  • Get the “Recording Sheet” from your teacher in order to fill in the answers.
  • Follow the directions on the sheet - and on the screen - to see which numbers are prime numbers and which are composite.
  • Explore more numbers using this tool when finished.
2. Fruit Shoot Prime-Composite
  • Choose the level 0-99 and “Relaxed Mode” to begin.
  • If the target says prime, shoot the prime numbers, when the target says composite, shoot the composite numbers.
  • Play “Timed Mode” for a challenge.
3. The Factor Game (NCTM) 
  • If you are playing by yourself, change the opponent to “Computer.”
  • Click a number that has the least number of factors on the board and your opponent will choose all the factors. Your opponent will then choose a number and you will find all the factors.
  • Each game you play, change the game type to higher numbers.
